Canadian consumer magazine circulation drops in first half of 2012

ABC data for the first half of 2012 has been released, and it shows an overall decline of 3.1% in paid and verified circulation for its Canadian consumer titles.
Of the 66 titles reporting, paid subs were down 5.9% collectively as of June 2012 compared to the same reporting period last year, while single copy sales slipped 1.6% overall during the same period according to the auditor.

Among the top 10 Canadian consumer titles ranked by total paid/verified circulation, Reader's Digest (#1) slipped 4% from ABC's June 2011 report, Maclean's (#4) dropped 5.7%, while Chatelaine (#2) and Canadian Living (#3) both made modest gains of just over 1% increase in circ. Chatelaine's French edition (#8) posted a gain of 2.3%.
For newsstand only, Chatelaine (#2) made a big gain at the newsstand in the first half of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, with an 8.2% increase. Hello! Canada (#4) dropped -18.2% at the newsstand according to ABC.
